Problem statement

• New DAO joiners struggle with how they can best get involved, find the Discord confusing to navigate (due to the noise and different channels) and most of them become inactive / drop-off after joining the server as they find it hard to get acclimated.
• Additionally, the documentation for DAOHaus when you onboard is slightly confusing (e.g. the HausDAO manifesto does not explain in simple terms what the product does, who it is for, and what’s its mission is

Objective

Increase the number of new joiners that become active contributors/customers through holding DAOHaus products by improving onboarding, without losing the human touch in onboarding flow.

Why is onboarding relevant?

According to our research and learnings thus far (and through work with DAOs like SharkDAO and PieDAO), a well-designed onboarding flow significantly improves the quality of new contributors, increases overall engagement level, and reduces spam & noise on the Discord. A good onboarding flow also enables a bilateral learning process (new joiners become aware of the DAOs mission and DAOs learn about the skills of new joiners).

The current state of the DAOHaus onboarding flow

1. User visits the DAOHaus website

2. User joins the community on Discord

   

3. The user goes to “welcome” channel on the top and reads through welcome message

   

   • Subtask: Read through DAOHaus manifesto

     

   • Subtask: Clicks on European castle to open the rest of the channels

   

   • Subtask: User could decide to go to castle wall channel to read further:

   

   • Subtask: Alternatively, the user enters the tavern to say what you want to contribute on:

   

   • User enters “tavern” channel: requires advanced Discord knowledge to figure out that most info is in pinned within the channel:

     

4. Redirected to “haus roles” channel (after sifting through tavern channel or getting manual answer from DAOHaus team)

   

5. Select role contributor (assuming that user has the intent to contribute):

   

6. Go to contributor channel that opens up and read through content and first tasks that could be completed:
